Weekly Update: Jason starts #discussionThursday, $COTI on Binance, WibsonTree, Harmony + IBC Media... – 21 Feb - 27 Feb'20
Hiya folks! With this update we will finally be 100% caught up with the latest. Let’s go! Here’s your week at Parachute + partners (21 Feb - 27 Feb'20):

As mentioned 2 weeks back, Alexis announced the start of a new style of raffle from this week. 300k $PAR in the pot to be won! Bose hosted a Friday Quiz in TTR on movies with a 10k $PAR prize pool. Cap shared a unique bit of trivia from the tipbotverse: ChangeTip, a bitcoin tipbot launched 7 years back, was acquired by Airbnb in 2016 that led to its closure. A crypto pioneer that was way ahead of its time. The usual suspects continue to be on top of the Fantasy Premier Leagure (#FPL) leaderboard – LordHades, Alexis and Novelcloud as per the latest update shared by LH. Alejandro hosted a gun-mode CoD game in the Parachute War Zone followed by a free-for-all for $PAR prizes. Tavo announced another CoD Battle Royale in the Parachute War Zone to be held next week. Afful’s TTR trivia was fun as always. Charlotte hosted another trivia in TTR as well for a 10k $PAR prize pool. Victor held one in TTR with another 10k $PAR pot as well. GamerBoy’s trivia in TTR this week was based on Kindergarten Geography. Haha! Belated Birthday wishes to Victor. Two-for-Tuesdays by Gian for this week had the theme rap/reggae/reggaeton. Like last week, Sebastian set up a YouTube playlist to compile all the entries. For #wholesomewed, Parachuters put on their creative hats as they made some epic artwork based on a primary shape shared by Jason. So much talent! There’s $PAR to be won! In the latest project update shared by Cap, ParJar is in final stages of testing with Transak, ParJar integrated coin-swaps are being worked on at the moment and $PAR-based Dex to be launched in the coming weeks in partnership with Switch. Jason launched a new event for Thursdays called #discussionThursday from this week. The first discussion series revolved around "something you don't understand". The goal is "hopefully someone that does understand it can explain it". Good conversations and altruism gets $PAR tips. TTR crew hosted a fun “guess the admin” contest based on the Parachute Christmas artwork.
Lmao Victor!
Happy Carnival to you too Rene
Just a sampling from all the #wholesomewed entries

A new page was launched to monitor mainnet and testnet status. The crew attended a Binance meetup in Ukraine to talk about latest project updates. Harmony announced a partnership with IBC Media to incubate and accelerate Indian fintech startups. Safe Haven’s digital inheritance solution, Inheriti, will be available on the Harmony chain. $ONE was listed on MathWallet. Intellishare co-founder Nicholas Wan shared a sneak peek of the testnet mobile UI. dGen listed GET Protocol’s GUTS Tickets as one of the notable startups in the Dutch blockchain space in their Blockchain in Europe 2020 Review report. For a project overview click here – nicely summarised by Generation Crypto. GUTS will be ticketing 3 new shows of Chef’Special. Global Crypto Alliance live streamed another demo of its IoT prototype smartlock device being operated through $CALL tokens. The team also hosted a fun quiz on their Telegram this week. YouTuber Crypto Rich interviewed the crew on all things $CALL (Part I, Part II). Nik Patel’s detailed research report on COTI was published this week. $COTI was added to the Staking Rewards platform. And here’s a biggie, Binance listed both the ERC20 and BEP2 versions of the token this week with a bonus airdrop for deposits. Woot! Before the listing frenzy started, the team took a moment to take stock of the situation. A big listing like Binance leads to a lot of new eyeballs that could trigger scams. COTI crew shared their anti-scam guide for this reason. DOMSCRYPTO covered the project in their latest video. DoYourTip was covered in an iHODL news feature.

And with that, we close for this week at Parachute. See you again with another update. Ciao!

A new Nano trade exchange was launched a couple of days ago - Here's why anyone who remembers Bitgrail should be be very afraid

This is mostly a duplicate of my summarised responses to that exchange's original announcement threads here and in /nanotrade**.**
The owners of that new exchange are welcome to downvote this new posting of mine, but everyone else can make their own decision about whether to upvote this for posterity's benefit, so that my post gets found in months to come (given that Reddit's search engine is really bad at searching comments.)

Here's what's dodgy about this exchange, and why anyone who remembers BitGrail should be very afraid:
I emphasise that I'm not saying this is a scam. But I am saying it looks like what a scam website would look like and appears to be operating illegally under UK law:

* The domain NanoTrade.co.uk was registered only two days (one working day) before the site went live - meaning it only could have been tested very briefly, (Edit: and could not have been secured against accidentally being taken by another person, which implies incredible lack of planning)
* The domain was registered by NameCheap, with an obscured registrant
* The site was not pre-announced on /Nano Currency nor /NanoTrade
* The site was announced first on /nanotrade (6k subscribers), but only announced here on /nanocurrency (44k subscribers) three days later, demonstrating a lack of knowledge of Nano relative subscribers
* The announcer Paradise2GE claimed Google and Facebook Ads existed prelaunch - but no one of you here saw them because you would have excitedly told us if you had
* No such advertising for the site was noted by me, yet I would have been a key target for it
* Since the domain was not registered, such advertising could not have included, say, a [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) mail form, which is incompetent in itself
* Nano Associates Limited was registered with Companies House on 2018-02-28 (as company number 11229688) - to a London mail-forwarding company's central London address (a postcode with 11,000 companies registered at the same address)
* Its sole Director 'Orlando Carugo' has no Google history of being associated with Nano, Cryptocurrency, or finance at all
* Orlando Carugo's profession is listed as 'Sales Director'
* The Google and LinkedIn history of an UK-based 'Orlando Carugo' (a sales professional) can be found, with no reference to cryptocurrency but with references to being willing to work for stock options or commission
* The announcement on /NanoTrade was made by Paradise2GE - an account with a few questions on Bitcoin two years ago, a single comment one year ago, then absolutely nothing until this weekend.
* We know nothing of the overall reputation of the company owners
* The company uses a payment processor https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/VirWoX which has a daily limit on PayPal withdrawals of 2500EUR. The NanoTrade website however states that up to 90,000 Nano can be sold per PayPal transaction. It seems impossible to reconcile this for me. If 90,000 Nano is sold to PayPal, when would the seller get their money?
* If the answer is that such payments cannot be made, when were the company planning to tell the sellers?
* On being asked on /Nanotrade, Paradise2GE has avoided answering this question in their dissembling answers
* The company is not registered by the FCA
* The company is not registered by HMRC as a money service
* It is a legal requirement for UK based companies to register as money services.
* It is not a get-out to just deal in USD and not GDP, yet Patadise2GE has attempted to use that get-out in their answers
* Paradise2GE has dissembled when answering questions as to why Nano Associates is not registered with FCA or HMRC
* Paradise2GE claimed 1000 trades on their first day... for an unannounced site...purely from a posting that had around 40 up votes at the time. It's a lie. Not even Nanex gets that many trades on a good day.
* Given a supposed 1000 trades in a day, 1440 minutes in a day, and 25% of Nano staked on Binance, we should expect to see >5Nano transactions coming out of the Binance hot wallet at least every 10 minutes or so. I don't see those
* The site works poorly on Android, showing a lack of technical skill in its developers
* The announcement of the exchange on /nanocurrency was by SMcArthurs - a one year old account, with very few postings, and no history in the /nanocurrency or /nanotrade subs
* Someone downvoted my reasonable questions on /nanotrade. I can think of only one person who would want to do that, if malicious
* Someone downvoted someone thanking me for my questions on /nanotrade. I can think of only one person who would want to do that, if malicious
* User astricali has posted at 2018-12-03 05:00GMT that they made a successful sale of 999.99 Nano. I performed a text extraction of the posted image address, which they were apparently instructed to send to, but I notice that although that address indeed Received a 999.99 amount from the Binance Representative at 2018-12-04 02:17:01 (Timezone unknown), the address has never actually Pocketed 999.99 Nano - the payment is still Pending. This is odd, since once might expect an efficient provider to pocket the Nano they receive asap, to sell it on the markets
* The address has however received a range of 8 payments ranging from 1.99 Nano to 1,847.99 Nano. That surprises me, because I would expect a payment provider to use a unique address for each received payment.
* The address has only ever sent a payment once, to KuCoin, on an unknown date before 2018-07-25
* Paradise2GE and SMcArthurs have been extremely quiet in response to these complaints levelled against their site
* Edit: Why would they be selling Nano at 1.00 USD at the moment when Nano is on Binance at 0.94?
* Edit: Seeing 403 Forbidden error 2018-12-05 23:38GMT
* Edit: Don't even get me started on the Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds (Information on the Payer) Regulations Regulations 2017
* Edit: It's 12 days later - 18-Dec-2018. The 999 Nano still hasn't been pocketed at address. In 12 days neither promoter has denied that's it's their account. They are therefore probably incompetent even if non-malicious.
* Also noticed something I should have picked up before: That address is Represented by Nanowallet.io - which means it's probably an account created on Nanowallet.io. Any 'real' exchange would need, at the very minimum, to run it's own node so that it can be online 24/7 - and if so would most likely Represent itself. Specifically choosing Nanowallet.io as their Representative after installing a full node would be an odd decision, given that they could help decentralize.
'm at way over 22 red flags here. I hope I save someone.

[Daily BAT Discussion] Underpowered Afterburners - April 22, 2019

April 22, 2019
Hey BAT engineers! Welcome to the Daily BAT Discussion!
If you're a new publisher, feel free to post your website/channel here!
Yesterday's Market Movements: Down
I'm sure to nobody's surprise, the BAT market finally experienced a correction after shooting up to 9400 sats (~$0.50) and came back down to 7800 satoshis at the time of this post ($0.41-$0.42). We had a small rejection at around 7700, so only time will tell if the market/speculators/fomo'ers are done selling. The volume peaked at around 7500 BTC on Binance. It'll probably be unlikely we sustain this over the next few days. Bitcoin is still moving sideways between $5200 and $5300. Nothing much else to report.
Happy Monday everybody. Remember, tell a friend about Brave, and invest responsibly!

The Exhaustive EOS FAQ

The Exhaustive EOS FAQ

With the large number of new readers coming to this sub we need to make information easy to access so those readers can make informed decisions. We all know there is an unusually large amount of Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt (FUD) surrounding EOS. Frankly, when clear evidence is provided it’s not that difficult to see EOS for the extremely valuable project it is. This post hopes to begin to put an end to all the misinformation by doing the following:
  • Giving a clear and concise answer to the most frequently asked questions in regards to EOS.
  • Giving a more in-depth answer for those who want to read more.
  • Allowing readers to make informed decisions by making credible information easy to access.

As EOS climbs the ranks we need to recognise there are going to be a lot of skeptical readers coming over and posting their questions. Sometimes they will be irrational, hostile and often just looking for a reaction. We should make it our responsibility to welcome everyone and refrain from responding emotionally to provocative posts, instead providing factual and rational answers.
I will add to this post as and when I can, if you have any ideas or spot any mistakes let me know and I'll get them fixed ASAP. Im planning to add a bit on the team, centralisation and DPOS, governance and EOS VC shortly but please let me hear your suggestions!

FAQ

1. How do you registeclaim your EOS tokens before June 2018?

Answer courtesy of endless. If you have not done so, you will need to create a new pair of EOS public and private keys and register them with an Ethereum address. This only needs to be done once.
On or around June 1, 2018 all EOS Tokens will become frozen and non-transferable on the Ethereum blockchain. Not long after, I suspect that EOS community members will create a snapshot of token balances that carry over onto a new community generated and selected EOS blockchain. block.one will not be launching EOS blockchains or operating any of their nodes. Additionally, this is a community subreddit unaffiliated in an official capacity with block.one

claimAll will not work for most users. When you get to the claim step, please use the following tutorial: https://steemit.com/eos/@koyn/minimizing-the-cost-of-gas-when-claiming-eos-using-myetherwallet
Did you buy your EOS tokens on an exchange? (Courtesy of IQOptionCoin)
REMEMBER YOU ONLY NEED TO REGISTER YOUR TOKENS IF YOU BOUGHT THEM ON AN EXCHANGE. YOU DON'T NEED TO CLAIM THEM.
  1. Go to the EOS website https://eos.io
  2. Scroll down and select "GET EOS"
  3. Tick all the required boxes and click "Continue"
  4. Scroll down and click "Register"
  5. Select Metamask, MyEtherWallet, or Ethereum Wallet
  6. Follow the guide.
  7. Remember that the reason you need to register your Ethereum ERC-20 address is to include your EOS tokens in order for the balance of your EOS Tokens to be included in the Snapshot if a Snapshot is created, you must register your Ethereum address with an EOS public key. The EOS snapshot will take place prior to the 1 June 2018. After this point your ERC-20 EOS tokens will be frozen. And you will be issued EOS tokens on the EOS blockchain.
So PLEASE REGISTER your Ethereum address NOW, don't forget about it, or plan on doing it some time in the near future.
There are a lot of submissions about this in /eos, so rather than making a new one please reply to this thread with any questions you may have. Don't forget to join the EOS mailing list: https://eos.io/#subscribe and join the EOS community on your platform(s) of choice: Telegram, Discord and/or Facebook.
And remember, if anyone instructs you to transfer ETH to an EOS contract address that doesn't match the address found on https://eos.io you are being scammed.

2. How will the token the ERC-20 EOS tokens be transferred to the native blockchain?

Quick answer:

There isn't one! Read the long answer then read it again, registering your Ethereum wallet is mandatory!

Long answer:

Within 23 hours after the end of the final period on June 1, 2018 at 22:59:59 UTC, all EOS Tokens will become fixed (ie. frozen) and will become non-transferrable on the Ethereum blockchain.
In order to ensure your tokens are transferred over to the native blockchain you must register your Ethereum address with an EOS public key, if you do not you will lose all your tokens! I am not going to link any tutorials as there are many that can be found by searching Google and YouTube.
block.one is helping with the development of snapshot software that can be used to capture the EOS token balance and registered EOS public key of wallets on the Ethereum blockchain. It is then down to the community to create the snapshot. This snapshot can be used when generating a genesis block for a blockchain implementing eos.io software. block.one will not be launching EOS blockchains or operating any of their nodes.

Exchange Support
Some exchanges have announced that they will support the token swap. Although using this method will undoubtedly be much simpler than registering the tokens yourself it also comes with its pitfalls.
  • It is highly likely there are going to be multiple networks running on the eos.io software that use the snapshot. It is highly unlikely that exchanges will support them all.
  • It is highly likely that exchanges will not support airdrops that use the snapshot.
Exchanges that have announced support for the token swap include:

3. What does EOS aim to achieve?

Quick answer:

EOS.IO software is aiming to provide a decentralized operating system which can support thousands of industrial scale DApps by enabling vertical and horizontal scaling.

Long answer:

EOS.IO is software that introduces a blockchain architecture designed to enable vertical and horizontal scaling of decentralized applications. This is achieved through an operating system-like construct upon which applications can be built. The software provides accounts, authentication, databases, asynchronous communication and the scheduling of applications across multiple CPU cores and/or clusters. The resulting technology is a blockchain architecture that has the potential to scale to millions of transactions per second, eliminates user fees and allows for quick and easy deployment of decentralized applications.

4. Who are the key team figures behind EOS?

  • CEO Brendan Blumer - Founder of ii5 (1group) and okay.com. He has been in the blockchain industry since 2014 and started selling virtual assets at the age of 15. Brenden can be found on the Forbes Cypto Rich List. Brendan can be found on Twitter.
  • CTO Dan Larimer - Dan's the visionary industry leader who built BitShares, Graphene and Steemit as well as the increasingly popular Proof of Stake Governance and Decentralised Autonomous Organization Concept. He states his mission in life is “to find free market solutions to secure life, liberty, and property for all.”. Dan can also be found on the Forbes Cypto Rich List. Dan can be found on Twitter and Medium.
  • Partner Ian Grigg - Financial cryptographer who's been building cryptographic ledger platforms for 2+ decades. Inventor of the Ricardian Contract and Triple-Entry Accounting.

6. Which consensus mechanism does EOS use and what are Block Producers?

Quick answer:

Delegated Proof of Stake (DPOS) with Byzantine Fault Tolerance. Block Producers (BPs) produce the blocks of the blockchain and are elected by token holders that vote for them. BPs will earn block rewards for their service, these block rewards come in the form of EOS tokens produced by token inflation.

Long answer:

Taken from the EOS.IO Technical White Paper v2:
“EOS.IO software utilizes the only known decentralized consensus algorithm proven capable of meeting the performance requirements of applications on the blockchain, Delegated Proof of Stake (DPOS). Under this algorithm, those who hold tokens on a blockchain adopting the EOS.IO software may select block producers through a continuous approval voting system. Anyone may choose to participate in block production and will be given an opportunity to produce blocks, provided they can persuade token holders to vote for them.
The EOS.IO software enables blocks to be produced exactly every 0.5 second and exactly one producer is authorized to produce a block at any given point in time. If the block is not produced at the scheduled time, then the block for that time slot is skipped. When one or more blocks are skipped, there is a 0.5 or more second gap in the blockchain.
Using the EOS.IO software, blocks are produced in rounds of 126 (6 blocks each, times 21 producers). At the start of each round 21 unique block producers are chosen by preference of votes cast by token holders. The selected producers are scheduled in an order agreed upon by 15 or more producers.
Byzantine Fault Tolerance is added to traditional DPOS by allowing all producers to sign all blocks so long as no producer signs two blocks with the same timestamp or the same block height. Once 15 producers have signed a block the block is deemed irreversible. Any byzantine producer would have to generate cryptographic evidence of their treason by signing two blocks with the same timestamp or blockheight. Under this model a irreversible consensus should be reachable within 1 second."

7. How does the voting process work?

The voting process will begin once the Block Producer community releases a joint statement ensuring that it is safe to import private keys and vote.
Broadly speaking there will be two methods of voting:
  1. Command Line Interface (CLI) tools
  2. Web portals
EOS Canada has created eosc, a CLI tool that supports Block Producer voting. Other Block Producer candidates such as LibertyBlock are a releasing web portal that will be ready for main net launch. There will be many more options over the coming weeks, please make sure you are always using a service from a trusted entity.
Remember: Do not import your private key until you have seen a joint statement released from at least five Block Producers that you trust which states when it is safe to do so. Ignoring this warning could result in tokens lost.

8. What makes EOS a good investment?

  • Team - EOS is spearheaded by the visionary that brought us the hugely successful Bitshares and Steem - arguably with two projects already under his belt there is no one more accomplished in the space.
  • Funding - EOS is one of the best funded projects in the space. The block.one team has committed $1B to investing in funds that grow the EOS echo system. EOS VC funds are managed by venture leaders distributed around the world to insure founders in all markets have the ability to work directly with local investors. Incentives such as the EOS hackathon are also in place with $1,500,000 USD in Prizes Across 4 Events.
  • Community Focus - The team is aware that the a projects success depends almost entirely on its adoption. For this reason there has been a huge push to develop a strong world wide community. There is already a surplus number of block producers that have registered their interest and started to ready themselves for the launch and incentives the EOS hackathon are being used to grow the community. A index of projects using EOS can be found at https://eosindex.io/posts.
  • Technical Advantages - See point 9!

9. What are the unique selling points of EOS?

  • Scaleability
    • Potential to scale to millions of transactions per second
    • Inter-blockchain communication
    • Separates authentication from execution
  • Flexibility
    • Freeze and fix broken applications
    • Generalised role based permissions
    • Web Assembly
  • Usability
    • Elimination of transaction fees
    • True user accounts with usernames, passwords and account recovery (no more having to remember long cryptographic keys)
    • Web toolkit for interface development

10. Is there currently a working product?

Quick answer:

This depends entirely on your definition of working product. If a fully featured developer release meets your definition then yes!. Otherwise the public release will be June 2018.

Long answer:

EOS differs from other projects in that it aims to deliver a fully featured version of the software on launch. The Dawn 3.0 RC1 feature complete pre-release became available on April 5th. This version has all the features of the final release that is due June 2018. Further development will involve preparing the final system contract which implements all of the staking, voting, and governance mechanics. The common notion that there is no viewable code published is wrong and the initial Dawn 1.0 release has been available from September 14th 2017.

EOSIO V1 - June 2nd 2018
Dawn 3.0 RC1 - April 5th 2018
Dawn 3.0 Alpha - January 23rd 2018
Dawn 2.0 - December 4th 2017
Dawn 1.0 - September 14th 2017

11. EOS is an ERC-20 token, how can it possibly be a competitor to other platforms?

Quick answer:

The ERC-20 token is used only for raising funds during the token distribution; all tokens will be transferred to the native blockchain once launched.

Long answer:

EOS team has clearly stated their reason for choosing the Ethereum network when they described the rationale behind the ICO model. Specifically, the ICO should be a fair and auditable process, with as little trust required as possible. If you believe that an ICO should be fair, auditable, and trustless, you have no choice but to use a decentralized smart contract blockchain to run the ICO, the largest, and by-far most popular of which is Ethereum. Since EOS is intended to be a major competitor for Ethereum, some have seen this as a hypocritical choice. - Stolen from trogdor on Steam (I couldn’t word it any better myself).

12. Why do the eos.io T&C’s say the ERC-20 token has no value?

The EOS T&C’s famously state:
"The EOS Tokens do not have any rights, uses, purpose, attributes, functionalities or features, express or implied, including, without limitation, any uses, purpose, attributes, functionalities or features on the EOS Platform."

Quick answer:

This is legal wording to avoid all the legal complications in this emerging space, block.one do not want to find themselves in a lawsuit as we are seeing with an increasing amount of other ICOs. Most notably Tezos (links below).

Long answer:

This all comes down to legal issues. Anyone who’s been into crypto for 5 minuets knows that government bodies such as the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) are now paying attention to crypto in a big way. This legal wording is to avoid all the legal complications in this emerging space, block.one do not want to find themselves in a lawsuit as we are seeing with an increasing amount of other ICOs. Many token creators that launched ICOs are now in deep water for selling unregistered securities.

A filing from the Tezos lawsuit:
"In sum, Defendants capitalized on the recent enthusiasm for blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies to raise funds through the ICO, illegally sold unqualified and unregistered securities, used a Swiss-based entity in an unsuccessful attempt to evade U.S. securities laws, and are now admittedly engaged in the conversion, selling, and possible dissipation of the proceeds that they collected from the Class through their unregistered offering."

To ensure EOS tokens are not classed as a unregistered security block.one has made it clear that they are creating the EOS software only and won’t launching a public blockchain themselves. This task is left down to the community, or more precisely, the Block Producers (BPs). The following disclaimer is seen after posts from block.one:

"block.one is a software company and is producing the EOS.IO software as free, open source software. This software may enable those who deploy it to launch a blockchain or decentralized applications with the features described above. block.one will not be launching a public blockchain based on the EOS.IO software. It will be the sole responsibility of third parties and the community and those who wish to become block producers to implement the features and/or provide the services described above as they see fit. block.one does not guarantee that anyone will implement such features or provide such services or that the EOS.IO software will be adopted and deployed in any way.”

It is expected that many blockchains using eos.io software will emerge. To ensure DAPPs are created on an ecosystem that aligns with the interests of block.one a $1bn fund will be has been created to incentivise projects to use this blockchain.

13. Why is the token distribution one year long?

Official statement from block.one:
“A lot of token distributions only allow a small amount of people to participate. The EOS Token distribution structure was created to provide a sufficient period of time for people to participate if they so choose, as well as give people the opportunity to see the development of the EOS.IO Software prior to making a decision to purchase EOS Tokens.”

It is also worth noting that block.one had no knowledge how much the the token distribution would raise as it is determined by the free market and the length of the token distribution is coded into the Ethereum smart contract, which cannot be changed.

EOS.io FAQ

14. Where is the money going from the token distribution?

Quick answer:

Funding for the project was raised before EOS was announced, the additional money raised from the token distribution is largely going to fund projects on EOS.

Long answer:

A large portion of the money raised is getting put back into the community to incentivise projects using eos.io software. block.one raised all the money they needed to develop the software before the ERC-20 tokens went on sale. There are some conspiracies that block.one are pumping the price of EOS using the funds raised. The good thing about blockchain is you can trace all the transactions, which show nothing of the sort. Not only this but the EOS team are going to have an independent audit after the funding is complete for piece of mind.

From eos.io FAQ:
“block.one intends to engage an independent third party auditor who will release an independent audit report providing further assurances that block.one has not purchased EOS Tokens during the EOS Token distribution period or traded EOS Tokens (including using proceeds from the EOS Token distribution for these purposes). This report will be made available to the public on the eos.io website.”

15. Who's using EOS?

With 2 months from launch left there is a vibrant community forming around EOS. Some of the most notable projects that EOS software will support are:
A more complete list of EOS projects can be found at eosindex.io.

16. Dan left his previous projects, will he leave EOS?

Quick answer:

When EOS has been created Dan will move onto creating projects for EOS with block.one.

Long answer:

When a blockchain project has gained momentum and a strong community has formed the project takes on a life of its own and the communities often have ideas that differ from the creators. As we have seen with the Bitcoin and Ethereum hark forks you cant pivot a community too much in a different direction, especially if its changing the fundamentals of the blockchain. Instead of acting like a tyrant Dan has let the communities do what they want and gone a different way. Both the Bitshares and Steem were left in a great position and with Dans help turned out to be two of the most successful blockchain projects to date. Some would argue the most successful projects that are actually useable and have a real use case.
What Dan does best is build the architecture and show whats possible. Anyone can then go on to do the upgrades. He is creating EOS to build his future projects upon it. He has stated he loves working at block.one with Brendan and the team and there is far too much momentum behind EOS for him to possibly leave.

17. Is EOS susceptible to DDoS attacks?

No one could have better knowledge on this subject than our Block Producer candidates, I have chosen to look to EOS New York for this answer:
"DDoS'ing a block producing is not as simple as knowing their IP address and hitting "go". We have distributed systems engineers in each of our candidate groups that have worked to defend DDoS systems in their careers. Infrastructure can be built in a way to minimize the exposure of the Block Producing node itself and to prevent a DDoS attack. We haven't published our full architecture yet but let's take a look at fellow candidate EOSphere to see what we mean. As for the launch of the network, we are assuming there will be attacks on the network as we launch. It is being built into the network launch plans. I will reach out to our engineers to get a more detailed answer for you. What also must be considered is that there will be 121 total producing and non-producing nodes on the network. To DDoS all 121 which are located all around the world with different security configurations at the exact same time would be a monumental achievement."

18. If block producers can alter code how do we know they will not do so maliciously?

Quick answer:

  • Block producers are voted in by stake holders.
  • Changes to the protocol, constitution or other updates are proposed to the community by block producers.
  • Changes takes 2 to 3 months due to the fact block producers must maintain 15/21 approval for a set amount of time while for changes to be processed.
  • To ensure bad actors can be identified and expelled the block.one backed community will not back an open-entry system built around anonymous participation.

Long answer:

For this question we must understand the following.
  • Governance and why it is used.
  • The process of upgrading the protocol, constitution & other updates.
  • Dan’s view on open-entry systems built around anonymous participation.

Governance
Cryptography can only be used to prove logical consistency. It cannot be used to make subjective judgment calls, determine right or wrong, or even identify truth or falsehood (outside of consistency). We need humans to perform these tasks and therefore we need governance!
Governance is the process by which people in a community:
  1. Reach consensus on subjective matters of collective action that cannot be captured entirely by software algorithms;
  2. Carry out the decisions they reach; and
  3. Alter the governance rules themselves via Constitutional amendments.
Embedded into the EOS.IO software is the election of block producers. Before any change can be made to the blockchain these block producers must approve it. If the block producers refuse to make changes desired by the token holders then they can be voted out. If the block producers make changes without permission of the token holders then all other non-producing full-node validators (exchanges, etc) will reject the change.

Upgrade process
The EOS.IO software defines the following process by which the protocol, as defined by the canonical source code and its constitution, can be updated:
  1. Block producers propose a change to the constitution and obtains 15/21 approval.
  2. Block producers maintain 15/21 approval of the new constitution for 30 consecutive days.
  3. All users are required to indicate acceptance of the new constitution as a condition of future transactions being processed.
  4. Block producers adopt changes to the source code to reflect the change in the constitution and propose it to the blockchain using the hash of the new constitution.
  5. Block producers maintain 15/21 approval of the new code for 30 consecutive days.
  6. Changes to the code take effect 7 days later, giving all non-producing full nodes 1 week to upgrade after ratification of the source code.
  7. All nodes that do not upgrade to the new code shut down automatically.
By default, configuration of the EOS.IO software, the process of updating the blockchain to add new features takes 2 to 3 months, while updates to fix non-critical bugs that do not require changes to the constitution can take 1 to 2 months.

Open-entry systems built around anonymous participation
To ensure bad actors can be identified and expelled the block.one backed community will not back an open-entry system built around anonymous participation.
Dan's quote:
"The only way to maintain the integrity of a community is for the community to have control over its own composition. This means that open-entry systems built around anonymous participation will have no means expelling bad actors and will eventually succumb to profit-driven corruption. You cannot use stake as a proxy for goodness whether that stake is held in a bond or a shareholder’s vote. Goodness is subjective and it is up to each community to define what values they hold as good and to actively expel people they hold has bad.
The community I want to participate in will expel the rent-seeking vote-buyers and reward those who use their elected broadcasting power for the benefit of all community members rather than special interest groups (such as vote-buyers). I have faith that such a community will be far more competitive in a market competition for mindshare than one that elects vote buyers."

19. What is the most secure way to generate EOS key pairs?

Block producer candidates EOS Cafe and EOS New York have come forward to help the community with this topic.
The block producer candidate eosnewyork has kindly posted a tutorial on steemit detailing the steps that need to be taken to generate key pairs using the official code on the EOS.IO Github.
The block producer candidate eoscafe has gone a step further and released an Offline EOS Key Generator application complete with GUI for Windows, Linux & Mac. Not only can this application generate key pairs but it can also validate key pairs and resolve public keys from private keys. This application has also been vouched for by EOS New York

[Daily BAT Discussion] Prime Pasta - October 22, 2018

October 22, 2018
Holy Macroni, BAT men! Welcome to the Daily BAT Discussion!
Yesterday's Market Movements: Up
After yesterday's cooling-off period, we started seeing some crazy action again this morning! BAT started off quiet, but in a sudden burst of energy at sundown, it began its upward climb out of nowhere. Every 100 or so satoshis, we stopped and consolidated, and climbed the price charts like a step ladder. At the time of this post, from a low of 3600 sats, we're currently sitting at 4200 satoshis($0.28). The volume picked up once again, approaching 2000 BTC of volume on Binance. Whether or not this price is sustainable is the 64-million-dollar question. As for Bitcoin, today the market tried to push it down below into $6300s again, but quickly got rejected, and is once again consolidating in the $6400s.
Not sure what's around the corner, but I'm sure excited to be a part of this project! Have a GREAT Monday everyone! Remember, invest responsibly! (Don't fomo!)

[Daily BAT Discussion] Eyes on the Mayo - March 22, 2019

March 22, 2019
Hey BAT sandwich-makers! Welcome to the Daily BAT Discussion!
Yesterday's Market Movements: Sideways
Yesterday was a decent day of movement for BAT holders. Around the time that Bitcoin dropped from $4000 to $3900, BAT only dropped around 100 sats, and actually bounced back by the end of the day back up to high 4800 satoshis ($0.19-$0.20). Volume increased a little bit once again, currently at around 600 BTC on Binance. As for general market movements, Bitcoin gave the market quite a scare with that drop, but luckily it wasn't anything too deep...yet. If we zoom out, Bitcoin still seems to be in positive-accumulation zone. Seems like this was just a minor correction for profit takers taking profits.
Have a fantastic Friday, everybody! Remember, tell a friend about Brave. And invest responsibly!

Decred Journal – August 2018

Note: you can read this on GitHub (link), Medium (link) or old Reddit (link) to see all the links.

Development

dcrd: Version 1.3.0 RC1 (Release Candidate 1) is out! The main features of this release are significant performance improvements, including some that benefit SPV clients. Full release notes and downloads are on GitHub.
The default minimum transaction fee rate was reduced from 0.001 to 0.0001 DCkB. Do not try to send such small fee transactions just yet, until the majority of the network upgrades.
Release process was changed to use release branches and bump version on the master branch at the beginning of a release cycle. Discussed in this chat.
The codebase is ready for the new Go 1.11 version. Migration to vgo module system is complete and the 1.4.0 release will be built using modules. The list of versioned modules and a hierarchy diagram are available here.
The testnet was reset and bumped to version 3.
Comments are welcome for the proposal to implement smart fee estimation, which is important for Lightning Network.
@matheusd recorded a code review video for new Decred developers that explains how tickets are selected for voting.
dcrwallet: Version 1.3.0 RC1 features new SPV sync mode, new ticket buyer, new APIs for Decrediton and a host of bug fixes. On the dev side, dcrwallet also migrated to the new module system.
Decrediton: Version 1.3.0 RC1 adds the new SPV sync mode that syncs roughly 5x faster. The feature is off by default while it receives more testing from experienced users. Other notable changes include a design polish and experimental Politeia integration.
Politeia: Proposal editing is being developed and has a short demo. This will allow proposal owners to edit their proposal in response to community feedback before voting begins. The challenges associated with this feature relate to updating censorship tokens and maintaining a clear history of which version comments were made on. @fernandoabolafio produced this architecture diagram which may be of interest to developers.
@degeri joined to perform security testing of Politeia and found several issues.
dcrdata: mainnet explorer upgraded to v2.1 with several new features. For users: credit/debit tx filter on address page, showing miner fees on coinbase transaction page, estimate yearly ticket rewards on main page, cool new hamburger menu and keyboard navigation. For developers: new chain parameters page, experimental Insight API support, endpoints for coin supply and block rewards, testnet3 support. Lots of minor API changes and frontend tweaks, many bug fixes and robustness improvements.
The upcoming v3.0 entered beta and is deployed on beta.dcrdata.org. Check out the new charts page. Feedback and bug reports are appreciated. Finally, the development version v3.1.0-pre is on alpha.dcrdata.org.
Android: updated to be compatible with the latest SPV code and is syncing, several performance issues are worked on. Details were posted in chat. Alpha testing has started, to participate please join #dev and ask for the APK.
iOS: backend is mostly complete, as well as the front end. Support for devices with smaller screens was improved. What works now: creating and recovering wallets, listing of transactions, receiving DCR, displaying and scanning QR codes, browsing account information, SPV connection to peers, downloading headers. Some bugs need fixing before making testable builds.
Ticket splitting: v0.6.0 beta released with improved fee calculation and multiple bug fixes.
docs: introduced new Governance section that grouped some old articles as well as the new Politeia page.
@Richard-Red created a concept repository sandbox with policy documents, to illustrate the kind of policies that could be approved and amended by Politeia proposals.
decred.org: 8 contributors added and 4 removed, including 2 advisors (discussion here).
decredmarketcap.com is a brand new website that shows the most accurate DCR market data. Clean design, mobile friendly, no javascript required.
Dev activity stats for August: 239 active PRs, 219 commits, 25k added and 11k deleted lines spread across 8 repositories. Contributions came from 2-10 developers per repository. (chart)

Network

Hashrate: went from 54 to 76 PH/s, the low was 50 and the new all-time high is 100 PH/s. BeePool share rose to ~50% while F2Pool shrank to 30%, followed by coinmine.pl at 5% and Luxor at 3%.
Staking: 30-day average ticket price is 95.6 DCR (+3.0) as of Sep 3. During the month, ticket price fluctuated between a low of 92.2 and high of 100.5 DCR. Locked DCR represented between 3.8 and 3.9 million or 46.3-46.9% of the supply.
Nodes: there are 217 public listening and 281 normal nodes per dcred.eu. Version distribution: 2% at v1.4.0(pre) (dev builds), 5% on v1.3.0 (RC1), 62% on v1.2.0 (-5%), 22% on v1.1.2 (-2%), 6% on v1.1.0 (-1%). Almost 69% of nodes are v.1.2.0 and higher and support client filters. Data snapshot of Aug 31.

ASICs

Obelisk posted 3 email updates in August. DCR1 units are reportedly shipping with 1 TH/s hashrate and will be upgraded with firmware to 1.5 TH/s. Batch 1 customers will receive compensation for missed shipment dates, but only after Batch 5 ships. Batch 2-5 customers will be receiving the updated slim design.
Innosilicon announced the new D9+ DecredMaster: 2.8 TH/s at 1,230 W priced $1,499. Specified shipping date was Aug 10-15.
FFMiner DS19 claims 3.1 TH/s for Blake256R14 at 680 W and simultaneously 1.55 TH/s for Blake2B at 410 W, the price is $1,299. Shipping Aug 20-25.
Another newly noticed miner offer is this unit that does 46 TH/s at 2,150 W at the price of $4,720. It is shipping Nov 2018 and the stats look very close to Pangolin Whatsminer DCR (which has now a page on asicminervalue).

Integrations

www.d1pool.com joined the list of stakepools for a total of 16.
Australian CoinTree added DCR trading. The platform supports fiat, there are some limitations during the upgrade to a new system but also no fees in the "Early access mode". On a related note, CoinTree is working on a feature to pay household bills with cryptocurrencies it supports.
Three new OTC desks were added to exchanges page at decred.org.
Two mobile wallets integrated Decred:
Reminder: do your best to understand the security and privacy model before using any wallet software. Points to consider: who controls the seed, does the wallet talk to the nodes directly or via middlemen, is it open source or not?

Markets

DCR started the month at USD 56 / BTC 0.0073 and had a two week decline. On Aug 14 the whole market took a huge drop and briefly went below USD 200 billion. Bitcoin went below USD 6,000 and top 100 cryptos lost 5-30%. The lowest point coincided with Bitcoin dominance peak at 54.5%. On that day Decred dived -17% and reached the bottom of USD 32 / BTC 0.00537. Since then it went sideways in the USD 35-45 / BTC 0.0054-0.0064 range. Around Aug 24, Huobi showed DCR trading volume above USD 5M and this coincided with a minor recovery.
@ImacallyouJawdy posted some creative analysis based on ticket data.

StopAndDecrypt published an extensive article "ASIC Resistance is Nothing but a Blockchain Buzzword" that is much in line with Decred's stance on ASICs.
The ongoing debates about the possible Sia fork yet again demonstrate the importance of a robust dispute resolution mechanism. Also, we are lucky to have the treasury.
Mark B Lundeberg, who found a vulnerability in atomicswap earlier, published a concept of more private peer-to-peer atomic swaps. (missed in July issue)
Medium took a cautious stance on cryptocurrencies and triggered at least one project to migrate to Ghost (that same project previously migrated away from Slack).
Regulation: Vietnam bans mining equipment imports, China halts crypto events and tightens control of crypto chat groups.
Reddit was hacked by intercepting 2FA codes sent via SMS. The announcement explains the impact. Yet another data breach suggests to think twice before sharing any data with any company and shift to more secure authentication systems.
Intel and x86 dumpsterfire keeps burning brighter. Seek more secure hardware and operating systems for your coins.
Finally, unrelated to Decred but good for a laugh: yetanotherico.com.

[Daily BAT Discussion] High Energy - April 18, 2018

April 18, 2018
Helloo BAT rocketeers! Welcome to the Daily BAT Discussion!
Yesterday's Market Movements - Up
Alright, the BAT rocket just keeps going up! Yesterday after hitting 3400 satsoshis and sustaining it for most of the day, we hit 3500 overnight (a day later than my earlier predictions) and we actually hit 3600 ($0.29) this morning! Incredibly, the volume is still relatively low, at around 245 BTC on Binance. It's about double the volume from a week ago, but still 1/10th of the volume of the top 10th coin. Bitcoin and Ethereum recovered from the previous minor dip.
Have a great Wednesday everybody! If you haven't already, be sure to join us on the Telegram chat! We hit 1600 members just a couple days ago!

[Daily BAT Discussion] Whoosh - April 19, 2018

April 19, 2018
Surf's up BAT dudes! Welcome to the Daily BAT Discussion!
Yesterday's Market Movements - Up
Wow, yesterday we were hit with the big splash of news of the Dow Jones Media Group partnership (which you can read all over reddit), resulting crazy market movements. It went absolutely nuts, going from 3500 satsoshis running on under 300 BTC volume on Binance, up to an insane high of 5300 at one point, going up and down inbetween, and dropping back down to around 4300 this morning with over 3600 BTC volume on Binance. Bitcoin and Ethereum also rose a bit along with the rest of the markets, so overall a very positive gain. BAT sitting at high 4300s ($0.36) after hitting seemingly a double-bottom at the time of this post.
I think we also gained a couple hundred new subscribers to our subreddit, as well as in our Telegram group. If you're new to the BAT project, we welcome you!
Feel free to post here in the daily, or in the subreddit if you have any questions. Drop by our Telegram or RocketChat also - there's always someone in the community or on the BAT team ready and able to answer questions!
Also, in general it seems the sentiment of BAT around the crypto community is shifting. Throughout the day I've seen good comments from people who aren't even invested, and more people seem to be learning about what the project actually is. If you see someone asking about Basic Attention Token or Brave, be sure to help fill them in if you can!
I also want to say a big thank you Brave and BAT team! You guys have been absolutely awesome in your communication and transparency with the team. You guys are seriously killing it on all fronts.
Hope everyone has a GREAT day! Over and out.

[Daily BAT Discussion] The Awakening - $1m UGP, Phil DeFranco - January 18, 2018

January 18, 2018
Hey BAT-erinas! Welcome to the Daily BAT Discussion!
Yesterday's Market Movements - Dip and Moon?
The morning started off with another dip, dropping from 4000 to 3700 sats ($0.35). But not long after, we got the crazy news of Brave giving away $1million in BAT! We immediately saw a rise that sustained the rest of the day, climbing all the way up to around 5800 sats ($0.64).
If you managed to get some sweet BAT from the UGP, check out the community-created tutorial below for understanding Brave Payments and how to support your favorite content creators!
Also, we're at 13k subs!
Phil DeFranco
Around the time of the announcement, we also saw tweets from many YouTubers coming out in support of Brave and BAT, specifically as a solution to the demonetization problems they've been facing. Notably, we saw an official endorsement of Brave/BAT from Phil DeFranco, a YouTuber of current events, with over 6 million subscribers. We speculated that he was onto us a few weeks ago when we saw his Verified Publisher status for his YouTube channel, and today he even endorsed Brave and BAT in his latest video talking about the YouTube demonetization problem, and encouraging other content creators to also sign up to become a Brave Publisher. Hi Sexy Phil ;)

[Daily BAT Discussion] Carrier Has Arrived - January 4, 2018

January 4, 2018
Hey BAT cows! Welcome to the Daily BAT Discussion!
Yesterday's Market Movements - New ATH and Floor
After being quite stable near 3500 sats, we began to lift off, rising continuously for most of the day reaching 4661 sats ($0.70)! We corrected again near the end of the day, but this time it was less drastic, easing off as we went downward and bounced off 4000 sats. At the time of the post, we're holding strong at 4100 sats ($0.62) with around 800 BTC 24h volume on Bittrex. Strong price, strong volume, and strong support!
Wow, the community is growing so fast! We got another 200 subs today, and there are so many new people posting and joining us on the RocketChat. Welcome newcomers!
You guys have spoken and we have heard! CryptoJennie has replied to your call of asking for stickying of the Dailies. As soon as they get the unofficial Facebook page stuff sorted out, they will try to work in stickying us in! Hehe.

spec shitshow #4

In my first shitshow post i told you guys about the paradigm shift. Then i talked about the importance of nonprofits in said shift and that no privately owned company will play an important role in it. I then digged out some possible third VC that IOTA has, in response to shit being talked online about IOTA.
Then verge pumped because of a Tweet that you need to donate for a partnership...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1U1PM-p3860

Verge is a 1B Cryptocurrency while IOTA is about 2B.. it does make you wonder how that can be. Now before we start to dig into things let me make it clear that i have no formal education on finance or economics. If you do, you probably should skip this one. Also, if you invest based on this Thread, it is only fair that you lose all your money because you are a dumbass.

It's almost impossible to value cryptos. "There is no Fundamentals" - is what a legacy market guy would tell you. As we learned in one of my other posts, the IF itself doesn't even need to issue public financial statements (which in my opinion it should do).
What we can do however compare different ledgers and or research projects against each other. So let's go back to Verge. Verge is a Shitcoin. IOTA is not. If you agree with that you come to the following conclusion: Either the altcoin market will still have to fall about 95% in value to follow common sense or IOTA is highly undervalued. Or maybe IOTA is a bit overvalued and others have to fall more or.... you get my point.

First things first: Bitcoin is here to stay. It is not an altcoin and it won't be one for a long time. Bitcoin can exist as a store of value alone - it does not need the "buying coffee" use case bitcoin maximalists can't shut up about.
https://twitter.com/MacroScope17/status/961622167048859648

If you are using Bitcoin to provide a negative before telling people why IOTA can do everything better you are lost in the woods. I know this is a very popular narrative among IOTA aficionados and this might be hard for you to hear.
Yes, having a DAG without mining is wonderful - but using energy to secure a public ledger is not the dumbest thing in the world. As of now, IOTA is nowhere near being called immutable. This will take time.
If you are relatively new to cryptos in general, most likely joined last year or during this years peak - do not fall into that line of thinking. That for IOTA to grow, Bitcoin needs to vanish. Try to think for yourself. And read the following Article:
https://medium.com/@vijayboyapati/the-bullish-case-for-bitcoin-6ecc8bdecc1

SHUT UP ABOUT BITCOIN. Okey, jesus. I'm sorry. I needed to make this point so i can talk shit about "Blockchain" and how it all ties together.
As a non-developer, after a while, "Blockchain" is probably the most boring, stagnant tech i can think of. It's almost as boring as Smartphones only getting a tiny bit bigger and shatter more easily when you drop them. Imho, "Bitcoin" is the only interesting thing about "Blockchain".
Today, "Blockchain" is so irrelevant that in 2018 Vitalik Buterin still publishes Text on centralized servers which are, big surprise, NOT censorship resistant
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medium_(website) https://medium.com/@VitalikButerin
"As of June 2017, Medium has been blocked in Egypt along with more than 60 online media websites in a crackdown by the Egyptian government."

Amazing.

Friendly reminder ETH was supposed to be THE web 3.0. Most people seem to ignore that or they never figured because of what they are presented with. Sure there is a roadmap, sharding this and that, but if i'm getting excited about future theoretical improvements on a protocol, im excited about IOTA. Simple.

With this in mind: The EU is at it again!
https://ec.europa.eu/digital-single-market/en/news/european-countries-join-blockchain-partnership
"In the future, all public services will use blockchain technology. Blockchain is a great opportunity for Europe and Member States to rethink their information systems, to promote user trust and the protection of personal data, to help create new business opportunities and to establish new areas of leadership, benefiting citizens, public services and companies. The Partnership launched today enables Member States to work together with the European Commission to turn the enormous potential of blockchain technology into better services for citizens".

This circlejerk from politicians is about 4 years too late. One can only hope that by "Blockchain" they simply use it as the buzzword it has degenerated into.
It is however nice to see the EU is starting to befriend distributed ledgers, they even fund privacy research on the chain: It will use blockchain technology to create tools that will give people ownership of the data which they and the devices they own generate, in order to respond to concerns about losing control of personal information on the internet.
they go on and say that:
Currently, four pilot projects are being developed in Amsterdam and Barcelona, focused on the themes of the Internet of Things, open democracy and the sharing economy.

Ok so.. Blockchain and IoT? Sure bro.
https://ec.europa.eu/digital-single-market/en/news/blockchain-give-people-more-control-about-their-data

Lets go one step back. How much money does the EU spend on research for this in total and how does it compare to the IOTA Foundation?
22 European countries plan to have allocated a total of 380M Euro by the end of 2020.
Let's compare this to the IF. Get ready for some quick maffs.
the IF received 5% of the total supply as donations. In addition to that the Ecosystem fund holds another 21T (correct?!). At the current price, ignoring VC hoarding, ignoring lawyers, salaries etc. the IF is worth about 220M Dollar .
Ya know. Plus minus tens of millions.
In my very humble opinion: those countries probably are well advised to get in contact with the IF (if they aren't already).

So. What if the price of 1 Miota drops to 50Cents? The Ecosystem Fund would still value 10M to support innovation around the tangle. This holds up very well versus the 2 years 5M program the EU has going, building tools for privacy on top of Blockchain.
It should peak everyone's interest how this plays out. And how much the IF is involved here.
So.. is a 2B Market Cap still absurd for IOTA? I really hope it is NOT. Because the current MC gives the IF the possibility to rival the research incentives of 22 European countries.

Why did i go on about Bitcoin in the beginning. You see: as long as IOTA is traded against Bitcoin, you have two different $ prices attached to it. If 1 Miota is worth 17k satoshi, the price of satoshis dictates the price of Iota. One often ignored fact is that Binance overtook Finex in volume the past few weeks (ignoring the fact here that most volume on Binance is fake). But still, in a market where (as of today) Bitcoin has 44% Market Share and IOTA a measly 1%, it is naive to think any kind of "decoupling" will happen anytime soon unless these numbers change. The best MIOTA can do is to outperform Bitcoin with a steady uptrend. This would be best case scenario.
https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/iota/#markets
The available funds of the IF, especially the Ecofund, is in direct correlation to the bitcoin price - if you like it or not. So lets be careful what we wish for.

[Daily BAT Discussion] Gobblestone Ridge - November 22, 2018

November 22, 2018
Hey BAT turkeys! Welcome to the Daily BAT Discussion!
Yesterday's Market Movements: Slightly Up
Bitcoin is still bouncing between $4400-$4500, and a lot of other coins seem to have been consolidating as well. BAT has moved up from 3600 to 3900 satoshis this morning ($0.17-$0.18). The volume picked back up a bit as well, over 1000 BTC volume on Binance. Hopefully we maintain this level over the next few days!

[Daily BAT Discussion] Slow and Steady - April 23, 2018

April 23, 2018
Hey BAT hodlers! Welcome to the Daily BAT Discussion!
Yesterday's Market Movements - Slightly Up
We saw a little bit of upward movement yesterday, rising from 4500 satsoshis and touching 5000 for a brief moment, and then falling back down to 4800 sats ($0.43). The volume actually increased slightly with the rise in price. Bitcoin and Ethereum saw a gradual price increase and stabilization, so overall the market seems to be pretty healthy. The past couple of days we're seeing higher and higher low's in BAT, so we'll see if we can break that 5000 sweet spot in the next few days.
Let's look forward to a great week, everybody!

April 22, 2018
Hey BAT chicks! Welcome to the Daily BAT Discussion!
Yesterday's Market Movements - Recovery and Consolidation
After the drop in the market the day before, it seems like Bitcoin and Ethereum bounced right back! BAT has been holding extremely steady in the 4500 satsoshis area, and are sitting at around 4600 sats ($0.41) this morning. The volume has also consolidated at around 200 BTC on Binance, which is around 2x what we were seeing pre-Dow Jones announcement. Higher than before, but once again quite low compared to the top traded coins. The price stabilization at this volume seems to be a great sign of strength.
Have a great Sunday, guys!

[Daily BAT Discussion] Cautious Caverns - January 12, 2018

January 12, 2018
Hey BAT flubbs! Welcome to the Daily BAT Discussion!
Yesterday's Market Movements - Sideways Movement
Yesterday there was quite a bit of FUD coming out from western media outlets about South Korea banning crypto. But within hours, the South Korea government came out and rejected all claims of crypto being banned. The crypto market as a whole stayed pretty solid across the board not falling much more, but also was held down. We saw BAT move sideways but with a slow downward slope starting from 5300 sats and ending at around 5000 sats ($0.69). Volume has also dropped significantly on Bittrex down to 285 BTC. It's quite surprising that the price has held up so well considering, and for the TA experts out there, many talks of a Cup and Handle position, which is quite positive. At the time of this post, we saw a quick jump up back up to 5300 sats ($0.73) in the past hour, so we will see how today goes!
We've officially reached 12k subs! For all the new people, welcome to the BAT community! As a reminder, Brendan Eich has said that the next UGP (User growth pool, aka free BAT for Brave users) should be rolled out very soon, so stay tuned!

[Daily BAT Discussion] Hard Ceiling - January 3, 2018

January 3, 2018
Hey BAT friends! Welcome to the Daily BAT Discussion!
Yesterday's Market Movements - Correction and Consolidation
Yesterday was quite eventful! After our initial outbreak touching 3900 sats, we proceeded to launch off even further, reaching 4400 sats ($0.63)! Unfortunately (for BAT holders), Bitcoin suddenly started taking off, taking the momentum from BAT as well as many other coins/tokens. After a few rollercoaster swings, we rejected 3400 sats twice, and consolidated around 3700 sats ($0.57), leaving us near the same price where we started. If you'll notice, the dollar price is actually higher than the previous day's, even though the satoshi price was the same, because Bitcoin rose about $1k.
Also, we gained over 200 subs! If you're new to the BAT community, welcome! Like CryptoJennie says in this post, we have some exciting news coming out over the next few months, so strap in your seatbelt boys and girls! And welcome aboard the BAT train :)

[Daily BAT Discussion] Crouching Tiger, Hidden BAT - January 8, 2018

January 8, 2018
Hey BAT peeps! Welcome to the Daily BAT Discussion!
Yesterday's Market Movements - Strong Support, Sideways Action
Yesterday was a day of sideways action, bouncing between 4500 and 5000 sats. Bitcoin fell a little bit but the BAT/BTC ratio remained steady. We ended the day where we started, around 4500 sats ($0.71). So far we're seeing strong support and slight increase in volume.
Some people in the RocketChat mentioned that a chinese exchange ZB.com would be adding BAT to their platform! They are about a medium-sized exchange - not large, but not small either.
Hey, we gained another 300 subs and passed 11k subs yesterday! We're seeing great questions and answers in the BAT subreddit, from publishers to YouTubers to advertisers. Looks like we've gotten a few sneak peeks of memes popping out ;) Let's keep up the momentum guys!

[Daily BAT Discussion] Healthy Underdog - January 6, 2018

January 6, 2018
Hey BAT-a-lonians! Welcome to the Daily BAT Discussion!
Yesterday's Market Movements - Decline and Stabilization
Yesterday was a bit rough for us BAT holders, but not necessarily the worst of days! Bitcoin started moving again, gradually increasing and sucking life out of altcoins. BAT steadily declined from our 4000 sats opening, touched and rejected 3000 sats twice, ending the day at around 3475 sats ($0.57). It wasn't the best day, but it also definitely wasn't the worst!
Wow, we're still seeing a huge growth in the BAT community here! I think the amount of reddit posts have doubled since a few weeks ago, which is great! Keep up the enthusiasm guys!
Also, the weekly update from CryptoJennie is out! Notable announcements are upcoming Twitch support, first tweets of a publisher paid in BAT, and surging growth of search engine DuckDuckGo (one of Brave's official partners). Holy cow look at that graph!

[Daily BAT Discussion] Fresh Cool Air - January 19, 2018

January 19, 2018
Hey BAT chickies! Welcome to the Daily BAT Discussion!
Yesterday's Market Movements - Sideways Movement
Ok, we finally calmed down a bit after the crazy UGP day, immediately running into a small correction. We moved sideways pretty much the entire day, from 5400 sats to around 5200 sats ($0.58). No extreme spikes up or down, just an entire day of consolidation on relatively low volume.
Community-wise, we saw another small explosion! Another day of 300+ subs, already almost bringing us to 14k! Reddit activity went through the roof with over 60 posts in 24h. (I remember when it used to be like 5 in a day!)
Once again, if you got some fresh BAT from the UGP and are curious on learning what to do with it, check out the community-supported Brave Payments tutorial below!

[Daily BAT Discussion] Rendezvous in the Rain - February 7, 2018

February 7, 2018
Hey BAT junkies! Welcome to the Daily BAT Discussion!
Yesterday's Market Movements - Upwards Recovery
After seemingly days on end of red in the charts, we finally saw some green yesterday morning. We saw both Bitcoin and Ethereum go up, and the rest of the altcoin market followed in sync. BAT came back from 3900 sats to touch a local high of 4900 sats, before settling back down to 4400 sats ($0.33). Just another rollercoaster day in crypto!
If you guys missed it, the morning kickstarted with the USA Congressional hearing from an SEC chairman and a CTFC chairman, ending with an overall positive sentiment for crypto. You can catch the video here, or check out this post for a summary of the hearing.
Go crypto, and go BAT!
